About the Project
Launched in 2021, this project supports the rehabilitation and reintegration (RR) of women and children repatriated from conflict zones, with a particular focus on Central Asian countries that have returned more than 1,400 individuals from Iraq and Syria.
We facilitated knowledge transfer, conducted in-depth research, and identified good practices to inform national strategies and programming. Since its inception, the project has organized dozens of panel discussions and UN side events, creating platforms for dialogue among policymakers, practitioners, and international experts.
A major milestone was the development of a comprehensive training programme on how to design and implement effective RR programmes. In parallel, we published dozens of reports and policy papers offering practical, evidence-based guidance for governments and organizations involved in the reintegration process.
Through this multifaceted approach, the project has contributed to building national and regional capacities for sustainable reintegration and enhancing the long-term resilience and well-being of returnees.
