From 20–27 August 2026, the Bulan Institute for Peace Innovations, in partnership with the Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU), conducted an intensive solar energy training at the Renewable Energy Research and Training Centre in Bishkek.
The eight-day, 64-hour programme brought together 12 energy specialists from Kyrgyzstan’s National Electric Grid, carefully selected from Batken, Osh, Issyk-Kul, Chuy and Naryn regions.
As interest in solar energy continues to grow across Kyrgyzstan, there is an increasing need for qualified local specialists who can properly install, operate and maintain solar PV systems. The training was designed to respond directly to this need by strengthening practical renewable-energy expertise among professionals working in the country’s energy sector.
Throughout the programme, participants combined theoretical learning with extensive hands-on practice. They received training in solar PV installation, system operation, technical maintenance, safety requirements and the principles of solar energy systems. Practical sessions allowed participants to work directly with solar panels, equipment and installation tools and to apply their newly acquired knowledge in real-life conditions.
By strengthening the practical skills of professionals from different regions, the programme is helping build the local expertise needed to expand renewable energy solutions across Kyrgyzstan. We believe that these specialists will take their new knowledge and practical experience back to their regions and contribute to the further development of solar energy.
Investing in local skills is an important step towards strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s energy security, advancing the green transition and supporting sustainable regional development.
