The Bulan Institute`s permanent mission is to promote human rights in the focus regions, publish briefings and produce research papers. We monitor, investigate and record human rights violations and strive to promote democratic values in the focus regions.
Eurasia, Central Asia and South Asia have recently experienced worsened human rights records and authoritarian regimes. In countries such as Russia, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, critical voices have been silenced while governments continue to intimidate and repress human rights defenders and independent media.
The Bulan Institute monitors human rights situations in the focus regions and will continue publishing briefing papers on their constitutive countries. One of the primary missions of the Institute is to empower human rights defenders by assisting local NGOs in cooperating with UN human rights mechanisms and supporting them in drafting and submitting reports.
