Dr. Emilbek Zhuraev is an Associate Professor of International and Comparative Politics at the American University of Central Asia. Professor Zhuraev completed his Masters in Political Science at Indiana University in 2002 and has recently finished his Ph.D. in the department of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland. His past research has included topics such as the role of NGOs in Kyrgyzstan’s development, small arms control in Central Asia, as well as ethnicity and education in Kyrgyzstan. The Bulan Institute discussed with him possible scenarios of leadership change in Central Asia and its implications for regional security.
